from: AmyStrange & the Criminal The WEDDING by Dave Ayotte CHAPTER 1 Tuesday, March 24th 8:32 am (dictated 8:32 am) “Wait a second... Ok, there we go. Sorry, but what was that again?” “Why’s the Dictator on and where is everybody?” “Everybody’s out in the Mobile, working on that little problem of ours.” “Even the Cat?” “Yup, even Amy.” “Well then, let’s go.” “Nope, you’ve got a little job to do first. Here, have a seat.” “I don’t wanna have a seat. I wanna catch those bastards that...” “I understand, but this is just as important. Now, sit!” “Alright, alright.” “Not there. Right here.” “Is this new?” “Yup. I had it delivered yesterday. What do you think?” “It’s ok, I guess, but...” “Good, now start talking.” “You want me to dictate the Journal right now? Really? Well, forget it. What I really wanna do is find out who’s shootin’ at us?!” “I know you do, Crim, and so do I, but don’t worry. I’ve got you penciled in for eleven, just in time for lunch.” “Penciled in?” “What’s going on is really compli- cated, and the only way to keep track of it is with this new system that Stephanie set up.” “Stephanie? Our Stephanie?” “Yup. She and Ron have been working, literally night and day, on this thing since Saturday, Crim, and they really look like hell. Everyone looks like hell, really.” “You don’t look like hell, my little love dove.” “Shut up and start dictating.” “But that’s all the more reason to skip this crap. After all, Beth, it’s only a Journal.” “Yeah, but Zee thinks she’s getting close, and besides, Randy wants to look at it too, just to refresh his memory. Fresh eyes, you know?” “Hmm, that’s actually a good idea. Ok, I’m sold.” “Good, now get going, but skip over Seattle, please.” “Skip over the Surprise in Seattle. No way. That’s big-time important.” “I know, babe, but it’s just that...” “I know, I know, I’m a little too enthusiastic about how good a shot you are, or as I like to call it, playing the proud hubby, but they’ve already seen you do it, so what’s the big deal?” “Nothing, I guess, but can I read it first?” “Absolutely.” “And not after you finish the whole damn thing either, like the last time, you weasel.” “Ok, but don’t leave just yet, I wanna run a couple things by you first.” “Fine, go ahead.” “Four months is a long time, especially if I’m gonna be dictating every little detail.” “That’s for sure, especially with the way you yak, yak, yak, yak, yak, yak, yak.” “Funny, but seriously, there’s our first case in Louisiana when the Cat found that little girl, that Crazy time in Chicago, that Mind-blower in Maine, and especially that Fiasco in Frisco, but I’m not too sure about all that other stuff in between and after. I do wanna add some of the fun stuff we did, but I don’t wanna turn this whole thing into another War and Peace either. “I definitely agree with Frisco, and Chicago too, especially after that little stunt you pulled. Zee should know about that one.” “Yeah, that impulse was weird, but you’ve gotta admit. It’s the fastest way to the ground from five-stories up, but wait a minute, what about your two little stunts?” “What stunts?” “You know what I’m talking about. When the Cat found that missing Mom, and then in that bar later.” “Whatever. Dictate what you want, and then come see me when you’re done, ok?” “Ok.” “Good. Now get to work, and babe.” “Yeah, hon?” “Thanks for saving my life.” ======================================= READ Part 1 (The Escape) for FREE here: http://www.atomadness.com/ ======================================= =======================================
